Sur Ron Battery 60v 65Ah Trail V3 Long Range 12KW is designed to run on a standard Sur Ron bike as a direct swap in battery, increasing the range by over 200%.
You can use your standard Sur Ron controller (no real power increase – just range) or you swap out your controller for an aftermarket controller and set it to 200A DC (for ASI it can be set at 12000W) and phase maximum at 460A.
Can be used with an ASI BAC4000, ASI BAC8000, VTB, EBMX X-9000 or Torp controller (and any other 60v capable controller). This will give you a safe and genuine fast bike that will give heaps of range and fun. This battery is very similar in design to its fast brother (the 72v Race Battery) but uses a different cell and different configuration to give it maximum range without being crazy tall.
On delivery, please contact Electron Cycles for activation of your battery.
This battery will work perfectly with the original Sur Ron standard Controller to give you range which is approximately 200% more than the OEM battery. If you want more power you will need a bigger controller and we recommend the EBMX X9000V3 available here: https://electroncycles.com/product/ebmx-x-9000-v3-sur-ron-light-bee-motor-controller/
If this battery is to be used with an aftermarket controller, the maximum setting is 200A. DC Phase 500PhA and 12000W.
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Sur Ron to keep everything compatible. This allows you to swap your standard battery back should you wish. If you have a 2024 Sur Ron with the newer round connector, you may have to retro fit the original Sur Ron battery loom (this is easy and cheap to do).
Sur Ron in their wisdom have changed the battery connector for the 2024 model. It does not take as much power and is very difficult to obtain. These connectors are not compatible with our batteries (or anyone else’s battery). The simple work around is to install a pre 2024 loom. This takes about 30 minutes and is simple to do. If you then want to run your OEM 2024 battery, you will need to purchase an adapter. Most people sell their OEM battery to offset the cost of this much longer range and more powerful battery upgrade.
Some versions of the Sur Ron standard controller may go into limp mode if using this battery with no communication port (not using an aftermarket controller). This will need a very simple modification to the plug that normally connects to the battery. Please see the photo of the battery communication connector we supply. This is effectively two pins that are crossed with a simple piece of wire with a spade connector. Note the area circled in red in the photo.
This Sur Ron Battery does not have an integrated voltmeter. We supply a voltmeter that nestles in your battery lid.
All your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Please note that on L1e Bikes an orange warning light may flicker on the main display and a small error code may appear. There is no fix for this and a consequence of using an aftermarket battery. Use the voltmeter we supply with your battery to keep track of the batteries state of charge – empty at 48V.
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
